If you are looking for the ultimate outdoor getaway, look no further than the 3,500-acre posh playground known as The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort in Richmond, Rhode Island.

The four-season luxury property bills itself as the region’s “most amenity-rich, life-enhancing oasis” – and for good reason.

Whether you come here for a weekend getaway to stay in a tiny home or opt for a longer stay in a single-family home, luxurious townhouse, or lavish Hilltop Lodge & Spa Suite, the property offers a variety of accommodations for the savvy traveler.

Designed with the outdoor enthusiast in mind, the elite sporting property boasts world-class sporting experiences that range from a Bentley driving experience, clay shooting, and archery to fly fishing, hunting, and ATV trail riding.

There is also an 18-hole PGA golf course on property along with volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts, ziplining aerial adventures, hiking trails, shuffleboard, and sledding opportunities.

For the ultimate adventure, you can perfect your survival skills, participate in a high tower hunt on the “tallest tower stands in the northeast,” sign up to experience their interactive firearms training system, or try shooting in the country’s longest indoor automated range.

When it comes to little adventure seekers, the property rolls out the red carpet for kids.

Many of the experiences are designed for children over 12, but youngsters can sign up for a yoga class, enjoy swimming in their new outdoor pool, take a private carriage ride around the property with their parents, sign up for a scavenger hunt, head over to the Kids Craft Club for some afternoon fun, take a pony ride, or sign up to learn Nerf archery.

Deciding which luxury accommodation to stay in might be the most difficult decision you will have to make.

For an adults-only getaway (children over 16 are welcome here), a stay in the Hilltop Lodge & Spa building offers luxurious apartment style suites nestled in a hotel-style setting.

The lodge boasts four floors with guest rooms and suites along with a reception lounge and concierge desk located on the main level. Their OH! Spa, a private spa pool, and White Birch Café can all be found on the lower level.

Accommodations at Hilltop Lodge & Spa range from a standard queen suite to an opulent Hilltop Woodland three-bedroom suite.

The spacious suites are designed for anyone looking for either a weekend getaway or week-long stay. The three-bedroom unit features a king en-suite bedroom with luxurious glass shower and two walk-in closets, a queen en-suite with jetted tub, and a bunk room with shower.

Offering 2,345 square feet of space, the unit also has a living room with fireplace, a fully stocked gourmet chef’s kitchen with waterfall island, high-end appliances, and separate dining area. Sliders from the living area open up to an enormous outdoor deck overlooking the spa pool. A washer and dryer in the unit provide the added luxury of checking out with a luggage full of clean clothes.

Some families may want to cook in, but if you are looking to dine out on property, there are several options.

For lighter fare, we recommend heading to OH! Spa to enjoy a salad or glass of champagne poolside at H20 Café, in the venue’s LillyPad, or relaxation room before a soothing 60-minute custom Total Tranquility massage.

Afterwards, be sure to linger a little longer at the spa and enjoy the whirlpools, steam room, and sauna located in the locker room.

For more formal dining, be sure to make a reservation at Double Barrel Steak, the property’s premier steakhouse.

The restaurant also offers nightly specials that include a three-course Pasta & Vino menu on Thursdays.

Dinner highlights include their popular “clothesline” maple-glazed bacon, signature salad with roasted butternut squash, grilled asparagus, and roasted corn; and the simply grilled salmon entrée paired up with a side of grilled asparagus.

If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, be sure to check out the Maker’s Mark dining and tasting experience hosted in one of three whimsical Hobbit Houses. Nestled into hillside boulders, the magical abodes with circular doorway look like something straight out of a fairy tale.

Keep an eye out for the opening of The Preserve’s new event barn that will be used to host weddings, galas, and private parties.

The Preserve Sporting Club & Resort is located at 1 Preserve Boulevard in Richmond, Rhode Island.
