Dougie Lampkin Honored in Monte Carlo

Posted: Dec. 7th, 2012  |  By Michael Pearse

Stepping down after nearly two decades of competition, Dougie Lampkin was proud to receive honors for his achievements at the FIM gala in Monte Carlo. Lampkin expressed great enthusiasm for his transition from driver to ambassador for the sport but still has plans for at least one more competition.

Silsden's Dougie Lampkin joined an illustrious line up of current world champions and other two- wheel legends when he was honoured for his sporting achievements by FIM president Vito Ippolito at their gala in Monte Carlo.

Lampkin stepped down from the FIM Trials World Championship earlier this season after 19 years of competing at the top level in which he gained 12 individual FIM world titles.

During his two-day stay in the Mecca of motor sport, Dougie took part in a variety of activities that included a one-to-one FIM-TV.com interview with presenter Lisa Leyland and a unique multi-rider press conference alongside other legends, inlcuding many 2012 FIM world champions.
