Apparently Lima's fare is on impressively on par with other foodie destinations like Paris and Venice. It's about time South America had another well-liked city (beyond just Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires), and Lima seems like the perfect city to represent the continent.

Peru should rank as one of the world's food capitals along with Italy and France, said Craig S. Smith, President of the Caribbean and Latin America at Marriott International.

"I have to say that after living here for two years, I find that Peruvian cuisine is phenomenal! Countries like Italy and France are known as the world's culinary capitals, where people go to study culinary arts and I think Peru has to be among those countries" he said.

In an interview with El Peruano, Smith stressed the cultural wealth and historical roots of Peru and he was impressed by "the incredible growth of Lima."
