American Political Behemoths Converge on Dallas

Posted: May. 7th, 2013  |  By Michael Pearse

With the new presidential library opening in Dallas last week, the city saw many of America's most prominent living political figures converge on one location. From Jimmy Carter to Barack Obama, every living president showed up for the event as well as many other active and retired politicians.

Five living U.S. presidents, two contenders for the White House in 2016, high-profile political fundraisers and the opening of a museum that promises to be a magnet for years to come.

It’s one of the biggest weeks for politics in the history of Dallas.

The highlight, of course, is the dedication of the George W. Bush Presidential Center.

President Barack Obama is scheduled to attend the opening Thursday morning. He’ll be joined by former presidents Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and, of course, George W. Bush.

The opening of the center offers much more than spectacle.
