3 Simple Things you can do to Smooth the Texture of Your Skin

Rough skin texture can make your complexion look much older than it is and all too often it sneaks up and takes you by surprise. There might be a moment when you catch your reflection in a passing window and realize your skin looks a bit rough, or maybe you’re in the dressing room trying on a new outfit and look up to realize your skin needs a little help. Don’t get down about it, do something about it. There are safe and simple things you can do at home that will help to smooth out the texture of your skin and promote a more youthful appearance.

1. Exfoliation

Exfoliating your skin with an effective scrub, peel, or home microdermabrasion system sloughs away dead skin build up, dirt, and debris. You will instantly notice that your skin feels smoother but over time it will function better as well. Regular exfoliation will increase your cellular turnover rate and also helps your topical skin care products work more efficiently. You should plan on exfoliating your skin 2-3 times a week in order to reap the rewards of this simple yet effective means for obtaining smoother skin.

2. LED Light Therapy

LED light therapy units such as the Baby Quasar PLUS, DPL Therapy System or the reVive Light Therapy System efficiently treat the skin promoting a smoother and brighter complexion along with a whole host of other benefits.  You can learn more about these units and their unique benefits at www.revealgreatskin.com/red-light-therapy. Specific LEDs (light emitting diodes), such as red, infrared, and yellow, permeate the skin and tissue where they renew, regenerate, rejuvenate, increase cellular turnover, and boost collagen and elastin production. LED light therapy has been researched for over 40 years and has been proven to be a powerful way to improve the texture and quality of your skin.

3. Sunscreen

Sunscreen won’t actually make your skin smoother but it will help protect it and keep it from getting worse when exposed to the damaging rays of the sun.  Sun exposure is detrimental to the supportive structure within your skin and can cause an uneven and rough texture.  Using a sunscreen daily will help you maintain smoother and healthier skin. Make sure you use one that contains a physical sunscreen such as zinc oxide rather than a chemical one; chemical sunscreens have been shown to generate free radicals when exposed to the sun’s rays.

Rough and uneven skin can be a frustration but you can take the bull by the horns and do something about it. Taking these extra steps will give your skin what it needs to be more beautiful. You can take years off of your appearance by making a few simple changes to your existing skin care routine.
