5 Ways to Stay Entertained on Your Next Road Trip

If you're headed out on a road trip, you know you're going to be in the car for a while. Sure, the trip will be great, but with long stretches of road, it can also get a little boring after a few hours. So, what should you do to stay entertained?

Tell a Story

Whether you're traveling with friends or family, one of the best ways to stay entertained on a road trip is to tell stories. There are tons of ways to do this. Do you have an interesting story in your past? Tell embarrassing things about your childhood. Or, you can make up stories to tell each other. One fun game is for one person to start telling a story, after a while, have the next person take over. You never know where the story will end up.

Watch Movies

Ok, so the driver probably shouldn't take their eyes off the road to watch a movie, but the rest of the travelers can watch a movie on a DVD player or laptop. If it's a movie everyone has seen before, even better. This way, everyone can make comments and have fun with it. This is a great way to keep everyone occupied through the trip.

Bring a Wireless Card

As you're traveling in your Ford Fusion, keep in mind that you probably won't get a wireless connection everywhere you go. So, if you're planning to be online for most of the trip, bring along a wireless card. This will allow you to get online anytime, anywhere. It's a great way to keep yourself and everyone else in the car entertained, no matter the interests of everyone. Plus, if you run out of ideas, you can search online for fun new options.

Play Childhood Games

Did you ever travel with your family as a kid? If so, you probably played a variety of games, like I Spy, the Alphabet game, and 20 questions. Go ahead and play these games now. You'd be surprised at how much fun you can have with childhood games, even as an adult. Think of new rules for the games if you want an extra challenge. For example, two letters in a row can't be on the same vehicle or sign. This will make the game a lot harder.

Listen to Music

Don't let yourself get bored just because it's quiet. Play some music, or try out some new music. If you brought along a wireless card, or if you have a smartphone, listen to Pandora. This will give you a wide variety of songs and artists. If someone you're traveling with likes a different genre than you, try out the music they love. You may find that you like their music more than you thought.

Sure, road trips can get boring at times. But if you plan ahead, you can make sure that there is enough to keep everyone occupied through the whole trip. Remember, it's not all about the destination; it's also about how you get there.
