A Ride to the Arizona Desert: Sheraton’s Wild Horse Pass Resort and Spa

2Sense-Los Angeles

For fall travel, this resort and spa hits all the stops...a luxurious escape with ample amenities, pampering, and majestic beauty. Especially so in the fall and winter months when Arizona truly comes into its own, boasting beautiful vistas and comfortable pool temps all day and night. Located just south of Phoenix proper in Chandler, Sheraton’s Wild Horse Pass celebrates the rich Native American culture of the Southwest. Pima and Maricopa tribe architecture, design, art and legends intermingle throughout the AAA Four Diamond resort.

Pampering always takes precedent when welcomed with a 17,500 square foot spa. This is the best place for adults to spend their pool time, as food and cocktails are served in the quiet of a 21+ area. A desert oasis that truly makes the outside seem desolate and distant. All treatments are taken seriously at Aji Spa, with special note of engulfing thagimun (massage) and chipich (exfoliating body treatments) options. Both carry you on a spiritual journey with music and ancient procedure choices.

Aji Spa is a separate building a short distance away down a natural trail that expands further across the extensive property. The abridged walk exposes one to desert plant and wildlife along with the backdrop of interwoven fairways of the two 18-hole golf courses. Golf and tennis courts are only a handful of adventures as horse riding is also available. There is even a tribal casino associated with the resort down the boulevard.

The Pima and Maricopa influences do not end at the property, spa and architecture. The highlight of the resort food scene, Kai, presents a fine dining experience using local and seasonal ingredients. Meaning “Seed,” the restaurant extracts the finest from the arid conditions, utilizing heavy doses of local spice, game, and seeds such as Saguaro Poppy in the Seared Peppercorn Crusted Foie Gras. A wonderfully diverse wine menu allows you to choose discriminately during your journey through this unique and varied menu.

Finally, time for breakfast. Ko’Sin takes it back to American morning classics with splashes of desert flare. Two eggs over easy and skillet potatoes ring of Americana as the Citrus Banana Bread Sweet Toast with mesquite infused syrup reclaims the uniqueness you grow accustomed to at Wild Horse Pass. The Eggs Benedict continues that by spicing it up with a smoked chile hollandaise. A great start to another day amongst the Arizona tribes.
