New York City-based Broadway Fantasy Camp is offering an interesting niche to the fantasy vacation industry with a set of packages that enables participants to experience what goes on behind the scenes in producing a Broadway-like show.
The guests/students of these fantasy camps get to act, sing, and dance in professionally produced musical numbers. There also are behind-the-scenes, non-performing roles available as well.Three five-day programs are slated for summer 2012.
The Broadway Fantasy Camp puts students in a working environment with entertainment-industry professionals for a five-day period. The creative experience concludes with the pupils participating in a live performance on a New York City stage in the Manhattan Theater District.
It begins with a gathering at a venue in the Manhattan Theater District, where students meet the staff of the BFC. The first day has auditions photo sessions, an intro to the music, and a rehearsal of the opening and closing numbers. Throughout participants get to mingle with various Broadway professionals from actors to stagehands, to directors, and so forth. There also is a post-show cast fete at Sardis on the agenda.
Puttin’ on the Ritz—The Music of Irving Berlin is the first of the five-day programs that will be offered this summer. The price of the program is $4,995 per participant. There also are shorter programs available that run one to three days.
Be a Part of It: The Razzle Dazzle of Kander & Ebb and Some Enchanted Evening: Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein are the other five-day programs of the Broadway Fantasy Camp for the summer 2012. The three events are scheduled for June 18-22, July 23-27, and August 13-17, respectively.
