How to Spend the Perfect Weekend in Paso Robles

Paso Robles offers more than 300 wineries, a walkable charming downtown and farm to table inspired restaurants. Located just four hours from LA, it’s closer and less crowded than a trip to Napa. Here’s where to stay, sip, and eat.

This comfy inn has roots tracing back to 1889. Their recent renovation has restored the hotel’s Victorian charm blending Mission and Ranch architecture to the grounds and rooms. The inn houses 98 guest rooms including studious, suites and lodging in the 1889 house. Rooms include a warm color palette, wooden floors, SMEG fridges, coffee machines, red and black and white tiled bathrooms, fireplaces and pretty patios. Surrounding the lodging are lush garden areas with koi ponds, hammocks, firepits and huge oak trees with twinkle lights. The pool is heated and offers private cabanas. The resort also houses a steakouse, Cattlemen’s Lounge with cowboy charm, small bites and signature cocktails and a coffeeshop.

 You can spend an entire afternoon at the huge gorgeous DAOU Vineyards and Winery. The winery produces delicious Cabernet Sauvignons as well as red blends. The tasting room features a huge rectangular marble tasting bar, a large fireplace and beautiful seating overlooking the DAOU vineyards and mountains. Stay awhile and stroll through the elegant estate, enjoy the view and wine and order charcuterie or larger lunch plates. 

Indogene Cellars

 Head downtown to the cozy Indigene Cellars to taste owner Raymond Smith’s variety of terroir-based red and white wines. The small tasting area is located in a narrow alleyway next to Jeffrey’s BBQ. You can opt to sit outside on high tables or inside at the intimate marble bar. Open Thursday through Saturday from 1 to 9pm. A six-wine flight tasting is just $25, so well worth a visit.

Justin Wineries

For an evening of elevated cuisine, head to the Michelin-Starred Restaurant at Justin Wineries where Executive Chef Rachel Haggstrom creates dishes highlighting ingredients grown on the 26-acre farmstead. The seasonal multicourse dinner tasting menu offers a matching wine program that perfectly pairs wines for each dish. Buona Tavola is steps away from the Paso Robles Inn and is the perfect spot for Northern Italian cuisine. Guests can enjoy the al fresco patio or choose to dine inside in the cozy charming dining room. Dishes include handcrafted pastas, seasonal dishes, Italian seafood and a great tapenade.
