Luxe Weekend Getaways

Fall is now in full swing. The kids are back to school and summer Friday's are no longer at the office. Even though your weekdays may be hectic, luxurious weekend getaways are easily a short drive from New York City. No need to worry about passports and jetlag, here are some of my favorite vacation destinations for you to unwind, rejuvenate and be pampered all conveniently surrounding New York City.

  East Hampton Point
Looking for a home away from home for the weekend? East Hampton Point Cottages and Palmer House guest rooms and suites are the crème de la crème in luxurious Hampton living. The cottages are easily accessible to East Hampton village. The full service waterfront resort presents its newest addition The Palmer House where seven guest rooms and suites feature deluxe lodging and the utmost in seclusion and comfort. The new suites provide a sense of intimacy in a private home with all the modern conveniences of a luxury hotel.

  Mayflower Inn & Spa
Be transported to a quaint countryside New England Inn filled with old world charm. Set on endless acres of rolling hills, streams and lush gardens, the guest rooms and suites are decorated in luxurious fabrics and feature four-poster, canopied beds, and 18th and 19th century art. The dining room's seasonal menu makes good use of fresh, ingredients with dishes such as organic Atlantic salmon with seasonal vegetables. While entering the dining room guests are serenaded with piano music. Meanwhile, the Tap Room features a more casual menu of Vermont cheddar-topped burgers and lemon-rosemary chicken. If you're up for a fun and challenging game of scrabble play on the Inn's antique wooden scrabble board. Be pampered at the heavenly spa and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed.

  The Lodge at Woodloch Pines
When you think luxury usually the Poconos doesn't come to mind. However, situated in the heart of the Poconos Lake District, this hidden gem of a spa resort is a more elegant, service-oriented version of the family-friendly Woodloch Pines Resort, just two miles to the west. The lodge is tucked away on 75 lush acres with hardwood forests, trails and gurgling man-made streams and pools. Rated amongst the best spa destinations in the U.S. There's a reason why guests refer to it as "Heaven on Earth."

The Chanler
Majestically set on top of cliffs lies the Chanler. The Chanler is the first historic mansion and only hotel located on the famous Cliff Walk of Newport, Rhode Island. All twenty mansion guest rooms are uniquely designed overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. All rooms have a fireplace, stone bathroom with heated floors and several of the rooms offer private courtyards.  This seaside town has so much to offer during the summer season, enjoy exquisite dining, cocktails, shopping and sailing amongst all the other amenities that Newport has in store.

Winvian
Nestled in the sleepy town of Morris Connecticut, a stones thrown from my home in Litchfield. The Winivan lays on 113 acres of pristine meadows and woodlands. 18 private cottages provide a retreat straight out of a storybook, ideally located just two hours from NYC. Have you ever dreamt of sleeping in a tree-house? The Winvian created a whimsical tree-house cottage for their guests. Each cottage is decorated to cater to a theme related to Connecticut.  The entire property is available for special celebrations and lavish weddings with rates upon request.

The Pitcher Inn
Settled in the foothills of Vermont's Green Mountains lies this unique Relais & Chateaux property. All guest rooms have their own distinct character while maintaining a cozy Vermont feel. The Trout Room has tree trunks for bedposts, a giant trout on the wall, and your own fly-fishing gear, while the Ski Room has furniture made from wooden skis. Each room is garnished with a fireplace, heated bathroom floors, a whirlpool tub, and Wi-Fi access. Tracks the rustic lounge located downstairs offers delectable cocktails perfect for an after dinner drink.

  The Bedford Post Inn
Westchester New York is the home to this quintessential charming weekend Inn. Only 45 minutes away from Manhattan this is the ultimate weekend getaway. The brainchild of Richard Gere and his wife, Carey Lowell the 14-acre retreat has interiors built from reclaimed wood and a farm-to-table restaurant that serves meals catered to the four different seasons. A client favorite is Room 7, with sweeping views of the beautifully landscaped garden, a king-size bed, heated marble floors, and a walk-in shower with dual heads, is both cozy and luxurious. Don't miss the inn's light-filled Yoga Loft, where classes ranging from restorative hatha to vigorous vinyasa are offered seven days a week.
