Oahu’s Hottest Surfcentric Destination Debuts Wai Kai AquaVenture, an Epic Floating Obstacle Course

Wai Kai

An exciting new attraction for the entire ohana just landed in Oahu: Wai Kai, the island’s hottest lifestyle and entertainment venue, recently unveiled the Wai Kai AquaVenture on March 1. To further promote the active waterman lifestyle that Oahu is known for, this epic floating obstacle course offers a thrilling experience with a series of interconnected inflatables featuring peaks, monkey bars, slides, wiggle bridges, balance beams, planks, hurdles, and more.

The perfect day trip for families traveling to Waikiki and Ko Olina, Wai Kai is anchored by Hawaii’s first deep-water standing wave and home to amazing restaurants, a spellbinding weekly dinner show, a sprawling event lawn with waterfront fire pits, a waterman’s club and a unique retail shop. Since its opening last year, the Wai Kai Wave has garnered the attention of the world’s top surfers including Kelly SlaterKai LennyCarissa Moore, and Gerry Lopez.

“We are excited to expand our offerings with the opening of Wai Kai AquaVenture,” said Jerry Pupillo, Director of Business Development and General Manager. “The new challenge course is a terrific way to spend a day on the water. With our new obstacle course, restaurants and variety of water activities, Wai Kai is the perfect spring break and beyond destination for bothKama?aina and visitors.”

Modular interlocking devices with different play functions are connected to each other, forming a floating playground. The floating obstacle course contains more than 20 components, including:

·      Action Tower – offering two ways to get up and two ways to get down

·      Balance Beam – a tricky narrow beam requiring much more than speed

·      Climbing Bridge – the only way over is up

·      Cliff – a mountain of a challenge

·      Dip Bars – similar to parallel bars but over the water

·      High Roller – climb, roll or crawl one’s way across

·      Hops – hop right along to the next obstacle

·      Monkey Bars – swing and dangle from handles over the water

·      Quick Jump – inspired by Ninja Warrior courses

·      Triple Jump – jump from three different heights

·      Wiggle Bridge – a topsy-turvy course

Designed for a variety of ages, the destination also features a KidsCircuit with simple obstacles to ensure maximum fun for the little ones.

Created by Wibit, Wai Kai AquaVenture actively promotes motor skills—from coordination to balance and agility—which are important for the physical health and fitness of all age groups. With safety being a top priority, all components have been designed and engineered to comply with state-of-the-art safety standards that are tested regularly.

AquaVenture will add to Wai Kai’s extensive offerings including watercraft rentals, surf sessions, special events, and more. Daily passes to the obstacle course will be available for purchase at $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 4 to 11. There will also be opportunities to bundle Wai Kai AquaVenture with other existing features and activities.
