Townhouse has rapidly become the chicest place for a mani/pedi in London and further afield. Its burgeoning portfolio of dreamy nail salons is testament to the brand’s winning formula: airy, bright interiors, featuring boho rattan lampshades, leafy plants, comfy banquettes and smooth marble surfaces, coupled, of course with seriously excellent technicians, all of whom have been trained to an exacting standard.
Service is slick and efficient: clients pick their colour or design from an online look book before their manicure or pedicure begins. Each salon offers a menu of simple, elegant nail art common to all branches of Townhouse– such as pastel half-moons, a single dark dot, or a thin gold line, and in addition, each Townhouse salon has its own unique range of designs. Seasonal designs are introduced throughout the year - for instance, the Christmas collection has just been launched salon wide.
Townhouse may be lovely to look at, but there is plenty of substance here besides style. The level of precision is extremely high. Wooden cuticle pushers, nail files, and buffers are strictly single use only, and are zipped up in a bag for customers to take away with them, should they wish, while all metal tools are cleaned using a hospital-grade sterilization procedure. Therapists have incredible attention to detail, and really take their time to make sure your nails really are healthy and ready for their close up. Ioana, who did my Indulgent Manicure at Townhouse Harrods (which is located on the top floor of the world-famous store), is a total perfectionist, and helped me to pick my nail colour and was meticulous about nail shaping and polish application. The result was a flawless manicure - one of the best I’ve ever had - involving shaping, buffing, cuticle care, and a deliciously indulgent and pampering masque therapy with heated mitts, as well as a gorgeous hand massage. My hands felt totally rejuvenated afterwards.
Another bonus of booking at Townhouse are the collaborations that the salons regularly runs with other luxury brands. For instance, the Covent Garden store, which is set to open in December, will offer clients a goody bag thanks to its partnership with local store such as Charlotte Tilbury, and Townhouse has also partnered with luxury brands such as Chantecaille, Caudalie, and Mirabeau. Another incentive – if any were needed – to visit London’s most luxurious nail salon.
