BCBG Max Azria RTW Spring 2014: Black Floral Print Has Never Looked More Wearable

I love pints. So it’s no surprise that BCBG Max Azria’s runway show yesterday easily became my favorite of the day. The slouchy relaxed form of the garments and the clashing florals made me wish the seasons ran from spring to summer and back again. And while I was racking up a mental list of all the dresses I needed in my closet come spring, there was one thing that stood out in my mind — these florals were different: bright, bold, embroidered and mixed with black. Plus I can always get behind a label that doesn’t immediately flock to light colors for spring. While there was still white and pastel pieces integrated into the collection, they weren’t the focus color, which made the collection stand out. BCBG Max Azria, runway show, nyfw
The navy floral patterns were some of the more refreshing prints seen so far, giving the looks a much more luxurious appeal than some that were brightly colored. Sheer geometric panels in the fabric were tastefully done, leaving the models covered, but sexy. Everything had a very distinct shape, even if it was meant to be a slouchy, relaxed piece, and cut to look comfortable and extremely wearable. The fabrics were soft and light with just enough movement to make even the monochromatic blacks perfect for spring. BCBG Max Azria, runway show, nyfw
Aside from those attention-grabbing prints, the model’s makeup was fresh and casual, making them effortlessly chic. Their wavy, unkempt hair and natural faces seemed lit from within — the youthful glow of sun-kissed skin. And while I know this relaxed all natural beauty is usually reserved for spring and summer, it’s not going to stop me from wanting to wear it through fall and well into winter.
