Versace RTW Spring 2014: Do We Love It Or Hate It?

Versace’s Spring 2014 runway show during Milan Fashion Week yesterday was an emotional roller-coaster. Falling in and out of love with the collection as each piece came down the runway was enough to leave us in a confused frenzy—did we love it or hate it? But the lime-green, metal and strap mix was nothing short of a beautiful disaster. Versace
Starting the show with Nine Inch Nail’s All Time Low set the tone for the whole collection, a mash-up of rock and edge, with a tough I-don’t-care attitude. It was fantastic. The metals echoed this mood in hanging multi-chains, heavy Medusa pendants and plated heels. Versace
Each piece was very Versace—straps, cutouts, clashing fabrics and barely covered models all strut down the runway. And while half the collection is the epitome of high-class trash, the other half is the perfect blend of gutsy sex appeal and hardcore attitude. Versace
Silhouettes range from flared leather skirts to skintight bits of cloth that we can only assume is clothing. The black chain dresses and floral separates are perfect for showing a little skin and a huge dose of sex appeal—as opposed to the sheer lime shirts that refuse to stay closed. Versace
Sure, we’re sort of split down the middle on this collection, on one hand the iconic Versace details were so well done that we literally spent ten minutes gushing over one photo—then again, some looks were totally destroyed with poorly placed chains and overdone straps. But the pros outweigh the cons on this one—the collection is a total win. Versace
