I know what you're thinking, another Hollywood, barbie-doll-making, cookie-cutter doctor looking to make a fast buck on anyone willing to cough up the dough, but not here, this was different. She was different...very different.
Unlike many other doctors with whom I've encountered over the years, she was unobtrusively impressive. She boasted nothing of herself, yet exhibited a quiet confidence, so with quiet intrigue, I continued my investigation.
Holding degrees from Douglas College at Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, her imposing list began with postdoctoral training at UMDNJ, Affiliated Eye Residencies of NJ and a clinical fellowship at the University of British Columbia. She went on to receive her license in the states of New Jersey, New York and Florida and received her board certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Receiving honors and awards such as the New York Academy of Medicine, the Eye Bank of New Jersey, the AMA Physician Recognition Award and the AAO Achievement Award in 2009, she further excels in her fields of expertise. Sitting on the NJ Academy of Ophthalmology, International Abstracts of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, along with 7 others, I begin to think that we must be nearing the end of her long and impressive list of credentials, however I am wrong.
A member of such professional societies as the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, International Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgeons, American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, the World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine, and again at least 14 others, I am now beginning to feel convinced. I should listen to this woman; she knows what she's talking about. I later find out that she is considered the doctor's doctor and that pretty much sealed the deal for me.
We meet and discuss my particular needs. I try to hold back, not wanting to sound like a fruitcake interested in changing everything about my appearance, so I mention one or two seemingly significant options that I'd read about in her office. They were two of her more expensive options, nevertheless she talks me out of them. "They're not right for you", she explains, and this is why. She then proceeds to offer me alternate options, far less expensive however more appropriate for my particular age and skin needs. I listen and am amazed at the choices available.
Ranging from her stunning Liquid Facelift, crafted from just the right mix of Botox or Dysport (the new Botox alternative), along with fillers such as Juvederm and the newly FDA approved, Sculptra Aesthetic - to her assortment of highly effective lasers and peels, such as the Melanage Peel, which I elected to try and I highly recommend - to her virtually undetectable S Lift, there seemed to be a solution that would suit just about anyone's needs.
The Liquid Facelift is perhaps the most effective alternative to surgery. Using a select combination of facial fillers, each lasting approximately 1 year, in conjunction with the newly FDA approved Sculptra Aesthetic, lasting typically 2 years, Dr. Neigel literally transforms the face to a state reminiscent of years gone by and let's be honest...even better. The overall result will generally last for 2 years. The procedure takes only a few minutes and requires no down time. You're back out and on with your day in less than an hour. Aside from the normal skin reaction to needles, there's usually no sign of any invasive procedure. Although the facial fillers appear immediately, correcting many of the folds and imperfections, the Sculptra Aesthetic takes slightly longer to kick in. As this is a product that causes the skin to literally build its own collagen, the natural process typically takes 3 to 6 weeks. I understand a second injection may be required depending on the individual.
For the Fractional Lasers, the options range from Active to Deep FX Encore, offering results as gentle as a micro peel requiring 1 to 2 days of down time, to very deep peels that ultimately cause the skin to turn over, stimulate collagen, tighten the face, aid in treating pre cancers, discoloration and more. The deeper peels require up to 7 days of downtime.
The treatments are augmented with a photo-facial, using the Gemini Laser, offering 1 pass at the 532 wave length, which removes redness from the face, and 1 pass at the 1064 wave length, which removes the brown spots and stimulates collagen. These are fantastic for acne scarring, sagging skin and sun damage.
Finally the S Lift, a surgical mini facelift conducted by Dr. Neigel is a procedure that literally lifts the lower third of the face taking years off your appearance. The procedure is quicker than a traditional facelift, allowing for fewer complications and a much faster recovery time. This procedure is particularly well suited for middle aged and younger patients, and leaves a dramatic improvement on the way you look.
