China Airlines Expands North American Presence With a Fifth West Coast Gateway

As a symbol of Taiwan’s global connectivity and hospitality, China Airlines has added its fifth West Coast gateway: Phoenix, Arizona. Launching December 3rd, the new Phoenix–Taipei route will operate three times weekly (schedule shown below) aboard the advanced Airbus A350-900. The airline continues to elevate the transpacific journey, providing seamless East–West connections for both business and leisure travelers.

This strategic expansion comes at a time of deepening ties between Taiwan and Arizona, following TSMC’s significant investment in the state in 2023. With the new service, passengers arriving from Asia can connect effortlessly to 100+ cities across the U.S. through the airline’s partnership with Southwest Airlines. Beyond the geographic expansion, the airline is also upgrading its experience on board.

Onboard, the airline brings the essence of Taiwanese warmth and hospitality to life with a thoughtfully curated in-flight experience, beginning with the recently launched video 'Taiwan in the Sky.' The video invites passengers into a world where travel feels like coming home, a cinematic homage to the comfort, beauty, and spirit passengers can expect on every journey. Beyond the screen, the culinary offerings have been elevated due to the airline’s collaboration with Hsu’s American Ginseng.

“We bring an attention to detail and care for our guests, we are there for you, creating moments of comfort and joy for everyone,” said a China Airlines spokesperson.

Available in Premium Business Class on flights departing from Los Angeles, Ontario, and Phoenix, the signature Ginseng Chicken Noodle Soup offers a nourishing infusion of East Asian tradition and modern culinary flavors. The dish is elevated with a European-style Ginseng & Goji Berry Bread and a fragrant Ginseng Guava Mousse Cake, creating a layered sensory experience that is both comforting and refined. Other pre-order gourmet meals, which can be reserved up to 24 hours before departure, include:

- Taiwanese Pork Chop over Rice

- Dong Po Pork and Abalone with Steamed Rice

- Stir-Fried Maine Lobster with Ginger & Scallions over Egg Fried Rice

“Through our partnership with Southwest, we offer enhanced passenger convenience through our single-ticket service,” remarked President Chen. To celebrate the launch of its Phoenix–Taipei route, China Airlines is offering up to 32% off on all flights to and from Phoenix, available through August 31st.

Additionally, a special co-hosted online promotion with five national tourism boards (Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand) invites travelers to explore Asia together. Available through September 7th on the airline’s North American websites, travelers booking for two or more passengers can enjoy $150 off roundtrip flights, with fares starting as low as $682.
