Porsche Returns to Le Mans in 2014 With LMP1 Sports Prototype

With 16 overall Le Mans victories already under its belt, Porsche is gearing up to hit the circuit once again with its works-run LMP1 sports prototype come 2014.

Always ahead of the time, the people over at Porsche are busy developing ways to utilize the latest technological advances and concept alternatives, according to a statement issued by Hartmut Kristen, Head of Porsche Motorsport.

"These obviously depend on how the regulations for the year 2014 look in detail. In principle, these regulations are interesting for us because the integration of our hybrid technology in the vehicle concept is one possible option,? said Hartmut.

Because motorsport has always been an essential part of the Porsche brand, it was only a matter of time before the Porsche returned as a factory to the top league of racing, added Matthias Müller, President of the Executive Board at Porsche AG.

"Porsche?s successes in Le Mans are unrivalled, " said Müller. "We want to follow up on this with the 17th outright victory.?

Following the recent success of the 911 GT3 R Hybrid's new completely re-engineered racing technology, AG developers are optimistic that the newest prototype will join the ranks of the legendary 917, the RS Spyder sports prototype, and the Porsche 911 GT1.

It's always fun watching a Porsche battle it out on the racing circuit, but it's even more fun getting behind the wheel of your own. If you are a die-hard Porsche fanatic, share your story on www.porscheeveryday.com.
