The holidays are finally over which means you can now relax, sit back and take a breather. For us, there is no better way to do just that than by preparing some of our favorite dishes while also trying some new recipes. If you are anything like us and like to be a little adventurous in the kitchen then we have just what you need. Introducing Ocean House: Living and Cooking Through the Seasons.
This beautiful oversized hardcover cookbook with more than 300 full-color images will take you on a culinary journey through the resort. There are over 70 recipes brought to you personally by the folks at the legendary Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island. Whether you are a first time cook or an experienced chef, you will certainly have fun preparing some of these flavor filled dishes.
We particularly enjoyed how the recipes are categorized by New England’s famous seasons. Classics like creamy clam chowder are given a nice twist with the addition of dill cracker bread. One of our favorite dishes was the Rhode Island bouillabaisse which we savored just before the onset of winter. The cookbook focuses on farm-driven cuisine (think heirloom tomato tart), not to mention the season’s freshest and local flavors, which are paramount to the property’s farm-to-fork focus.
You will also learn a little more about the farmers and fisheries that the Ocean House works with, including Wishing Stone Farm in Little Compton, Rhode Island, Hopkins Farm in North Scituate and Matunuck Oyster Farm in Hope Valley. This beautiful hardcover is available for $65.
