Nearly two decades after the InterContinental Boston made its debut on the waterfront, the glass-and-concrete structure decided it was time for a refresh.
Coming off a multi-phased, property-wide renovation over the past several years, the shimmering hotel now boasts reimagined guest rooms, restaurants, meeting and event spaces, a refreshed lobby, and modernized common areas.
Floor-to-ceiling windows offer breathtaking views of Boston Harbor and the nearby Boston Tea Party & Ships Museum. Located just steps from the Seaport District and Faneuil Hall, the pet welcoming property is also ideally situated near a water taxi and the popular neighborhood of the North End, also known as Boston’s Little Italy.

The 424-room hotel, which originally opened in 2006, was built in honor of the city’s robust maritime history with its modern design inspired by a tall ship. The mirrored glass was designed to reflect the water and light, while its prominent stature evokes an image of a ship’s sails blowing in the wind.
If you are looking to reserve a Presidential Suite for the ultimate stay, InterContinental Boston offers the second largest one in the city. The guest rooms and suites here were modernized in 2019 and offer either waterfront or cityscape views overlooking the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

A stay in one of the Club InterContinental Rooms and Suites provides exclusive access to the Club Lounge where chef-inspired creations are presented daily. Located on the 12th floor, the luxury lounge offers breakfast starting at 7 a.m., snacks and soft drinks from 12 to 4 p.m., and drinks and canapes served from 5 to 8 p.m.
If you overindulge, there is a 45-foot heated lap pool and enormous fitness center where you can work off all those extra calories. Be sure to take some time to relax and unwind after in the steam room.

When it comes to dining on property, InterContinental Boston has three dining destinations that they unveiled last year.
Matria, an Italian steakhouse, and Bar Fellini, an upscale cocktail lounge, replaced the former French restaurant, Miel, and Caribbean-inspired RumBa Bar. For dinner, we recommend dining alfresco on Matria’s outdoor pet friendly patio that boasts spectacular harborfront views.
Get started with one of their classic cocktails like an Aperol Spritz or Gin Martini and pair it up with a sampling of grilled octopus. Matria also has an exclusive Moet & Chandon menu that includes selections ranging from a Brut Imperial to Rose Imperial that can be paired up with a dozen freshly shucked local oysters.

On the weekends, Matria hosts a popular brunch in the main dining room and on the patio. A creative Caesar salad was made even better with the addition of grilled radicchio, basil, and crispy chickpeas. Poached shrimp cocktail was accompanied by a side of kicked up horseradish cocktail sauce.
For main events, we recommend the decadent Lobster Truffle Risotto or hearty burger topped with balsamic aioli, herb-whipped ricotta, and sautéed mushrooms served with a generous side of crispy French fries.
InterContinental Boston is located at 510 Atlantic Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts.
