Masters of Illusions Siegfried & Roy lit up the marquee of The Mirage for over 14 years, now the road leading into the original mega-resort is renamed 'Siegfried & Roy Drive'.
After being closed for five months due to the global pandemic, The Mirage reopened on August 28, 2020 and paid homage to Siegfried & Roy's legacy.
Known to the world for their record-setting performance run at the resort from 1990-2003, Siegfried and his friend Kenny Ortega were at the reopening. Sady, Roy Horn died earlier this year, at the age of 75, due to complications from Covid-19.
“I’m touched by this honor and I know Roy, if he were here, would love to see our names permanently placed above The Strip,” said Siegfried. “The Mirage was our performance home for so many years and this city has always meant so much to both of us.”
MGM Resorts CEO Bill Hornbuckle, said, “Siegfried & Roy helped us launch The Mirage and it is fitting their legacy helps us reopen today. Their incredible show played a tremendous role in putting The Mirage on the map. Today, we put them on the Las Vegas map, forever.”
Reopening with the resort is Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat, which features more than two dozen rare and endangered big cats and dolphins. Days and hours of operation at all venues will vary.
Driving into The Mirage, complimentary self parking is offered, however valet parking is not available at this time.
The Mirage is ideally located on the Strip offering an iconic volcano, lush tropical pool and exotic world-class experiences. To reopen MGM Resorts implemented a “Seven-Point Safety Plan,” to put healthy and safety protocols in place for guests, staff and the community. It is a comprehensive, multi-layered approach with guidance from public health experts.
Besides conveniently contactless mobile check-in with the MGM Resorts App, guest can make reservations for a cabana at the pool and a table at one of the open restaurants.
The resort screens, temperature checks and trained all employees. Mandatory masks are required for all guests inside public spaces and outdoors on the pool deck. Personal protective equipment is worn by employees, including masks and gloves.
The Polynesian-themed casino resort offers 3,044 guest rooms, suites, villas and lanais. Luxe suites range from the 812-square-foot Mirage Suite with two bathrooms and a whirlpool hot tub, to the 1,714-square-foot one- or two-bedroom Hospitality Suites.
Guests who book now one of the best available rates during midweek (Sunday-Wednesday) receive a complimentary view upgrade. The room or suite must be booked by September 30, 2020, for stays now-December 29, 2020. Offer Code: ZMW7VW. Guests can cancel 48 hours prior to arrival with no penalty.
