It has been 19 months since The Lanesborough shut its doors for its £80 million ($122M) renovation, but as of August, it has officially reopened. Being hailed as London’s most expensive luxury hotel—the cheapest room is £720 ($1,098) a night—the building’s new look has designer Alberto Pinto to thank. Known for his work on private residences and yachts, Pinto allows the space’s 18th century glamour to shine by getting rid of outdated materials and techniques, and bringing in modern technologies and gilded ceilings.
Though there are 93 guestrooms and suites to choose from, the obvious winner is the seven-bedroom Royal Suite. For £31,200 ($47,594) a night, the 4,843-square-foot “room” can accommodate 12 guests and includes a private butler, media lounge, two living rooms and a dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the Buckingham Palace Gardens, and personalized stationary and business cards.
The hotel allows guests to book only part of the Royal Suite if they wish, but use of the hotel’s chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce Phantom is only available to you if the entire suite is reserved. If you can afford to stay here, why not book the entire suite anyway?
