Sir John Soane's Museum

A professor of architecture at the Royal Academy, Sir John Soane's home became a museum upon his death in 1837. Negotiating an Act of Parliament a few years earlier to preserve his home for future students of art and architecture, the museum now sits almost exactly how he left it. Sculptures, painting, books and other antiquities he collected throughout his career are still on display for the public to see.

The research library holds over 10,000 books from Soane's personal collection and over 30,000 architectural sketches. For those who are looking to take an art or architecture class, the museum holds workshops for every age group?from children to seniors.
