Horniman Museum & Gardens

One of Britain's older museums, the Horniman Museum and Gardens, is a free museum that highlights natural history from the founder's travels around the world. Reportedly bringing back "specimens and curiosities" from Egypt, China, Sri Lanka and the like, Frederick John Horniman founded the museum in 1890 as a way to educate the people in his community and bring knowledge to those who didn't have the same opportunities to travel the world.

The museum hosts events for schools, holds classes and workshops for adults, and has youth panels to develop education for local children. This is also a great place to bring the kids as some exhibits are fully interactive and allow visitors to play with some of the artifacts.
