Now that you’ve watched all the Oscar-nominated films, it’s time to live them firsthand—well, their destinations at least. This year’s selections had a strong focus on locations and landscapes, especially Best Picture winner The Revenant which was filmed over nine months in extreme weather conditions. Epic Tomato has put together a trip focused on five destinations that were the backdrops for Mad Max, Star Wars, The Martian and The Revenant (two locations).

During the trips, guests will venture to some of the most remote destinations to embark on adventurous and unique activities. Although taking place in very different locations, all the excursions have one thing in common: they are strenuous and challenging. If you're looking for a relaxing vacation, these getaways aren't for you.

Star Wars fans will head to Iceland to experience snow-kiting, a crash course in polar survival skills, exciting landscapes from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano to the volcanic desert of Mýrdalssandur. If you’re looking for a warmer climate, head to the set of The Martian in Jordan through the lunar landscapes of Wadi Rum. This excursion has you trekking through the desert each day, traveling by camel and on foot. The visually stunning Mad Max was filmed in Namibia and travelers will get a chance to venture to the desolate Skeleton Coast of the country via helicopter. Along with camping, guests will also participate in a safari experience and will explore some of the most unpopulated, diverse landscapes on earth.

For cinephiles looking to visit The Revenant’s locations, there are two options: The Yukon in Canada and Argentinean Patagonia. In the latter, you’ll scale nearly 37 miles of an ice field which covers 139,930 square feet and camp on the ice while learning how to survive polar conditions. In Canada, race through the snow with your own pack of huskies while exploring secluded lakes, rugged landscapes and remote valleys.
