The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: Sin City's Newest Luxury Casino Resort

Luxury Resorts: It's a city where over-the-top theatrics and luxury collide; a city where overindulgence is encouraged, inhibitions are ignored, and just about everything is served in excess. Ahh, Las Vegas! Despite some of the country's recent economic hardships, Las Vegas continues to evolve and is set to welcome yet another luxury resort to its arsenal of Sin City swank.

Situated between City Center and the Bellagio, the highly anticipated Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas expects to exceed all expectations as it welcomes its first guests on December 15. By combining the luxury of a five-star resort with the unique charm of a boutique, the vertical multi-tower property sets on just 8.7 acres of land, and was designed to offer a truly unique atmosphere.

“The Cosmopolitan is about creating a resort experience that is truly different than anything that exists right now in Las Vegas,” says John Unwin, CEO of The Cosmopolitan. “When you combine spacious suites, high design from talent like David Rockwell, a curated award-winning dining collection, unparalleled service and gaming, we know we are giving guests an experience that’s been missing in Las Vegas and harkens back to an era when guests felt connected, inspired and engaged by their resort.”

The 2,995-room resort offers oversized residential-style living space with expansive private terraces that provide sweeping panoramas of the Las Vegas skyline. The beautifully appointed rooms located in the 50-story East and West Towers range in size from 730 to over 5,400 square feet and feature contemporary bespoke decor throughout, Japanese soaking tubs, rain showers and marble floors. Each room, including those located in the 10 three-story bungalow-style suites adjacent to the west pool deck, also come equipped with state-of-the-art technology control panels, plasma-screen televisions, entertainment system, wireless Internet and a custom in-room bar.

Additional hotel amenities include a 100,000-square-foot casino, a unique collection of eclectic boutiques, three distinct pool environments, a 50,000-square-foot spa, salon and fitness center, multi-level integrated nightclubs, 150,000 square feet of convention and meeting space, a trendy WALLWORKS display, as well as a diverse selection of signature restaurants. Delivering an impressive array of culinary concepts, The Cosmopolitan welcomes some of the country's most celebrated chefs and restaurant brands, including Blue Ribbon Sushi Bar & Grill by restaurateurs Bruce and Eric Bromberg; Comme Ça by acclaimed Los Angeles chef David Myers; New York City’s Estiatorio Milos by Costas Spiliadis; Spanish tapas restaurant Jaleo and China Poblano, an entirely new Chinese and Mexican concept by celebrated chef José Andrés; Scarpetta and casual new winebar D.O.C.G. by award-winning chef Scott Conant; as well as STK, the popular and sultry steakhouse from The One Group.

The Cosmopolitan was purchased by Deutsche Bank in August 2008 and will operate under the direction of its new CEO, John Unwin, who has more than 30 years of management experience in the hospitality industry, including a recent five-year gig as general manager of Caesars Palace.

“Deutsche Bank concluded that building a new brand, with a unique identity and guest experience, was central to the overall vision for The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas,” says John Gallagher, Director in Deutsche Bank’s media relations group. “As a result, rather than partnering with a existing hotel brand, the bank brought on some of the best executives in the gaming and lodging space to form a highly experienced management and operations team, led by John Unwin. We're confident that this team will help The Cosmopolitan become a premier feature of the city's business and entertainment landscape."

The new luxury hotel is already accepting reservations — and to kick things off right — are offering guests a handful of special resort packages, including the So Totally Over It package, which includes overnight accommodations in a Wraparound Terrace Suite, as well as complimentary cocktails for two on the terrace. The So Totally Over It package starts at $330 and is now available for stays between December 15, 2010 and May 29, 2011. This exclusive package can be booked online with booking code BOVR11 or by calling 877.551.7772.
