Posted: Jul. 27th, 2012  |  By Michael Pearse

Although Houston is primarily focused on maintaining business instead of tourism, there are still many options for those vacationing in the largest city in all of Texas. With a focus on great food and wonderful shopping, visit these fine locations to have a wonderful day while vacationing in Houston.

Restaurants

Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse - One of the highest rated restaurants in Houston, Chama Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse has an attentive staff and an all-you-can-eat selection of meats that are absolutely superb. If this is would be your first visit to a Brazilian steakhouse, you’re in for a treat and are recommended to try everything they offer.

Oxheart - A favorite among locals, Oxheart is a hidden gem that provide a scrumptious array of dishes that come from four and seven-course meals. Using local ingredients, the chefs have created a wonderful menu that will leave you blown away with how good the food is.

Shopping

Town & Country Village Shopping Center - An open-air upscale shopping mall done impeccably well, Town & Country Village Shopping Center is a great place to shop while avoiding the nightmarish crowd and parking issues so prevalent at other shopping malls in Houston. Large enough to spend the whole day at, make sure to bring your wallet and wear some comfy shoes.

The Galleria - With a great selection of stores and a skating rink in the basement, The Galleria is a fantastic shopping mall that gives both superb high-end shopping and a way to stay cool and entertained. This massive mall will give you a workout if you’re looking to window shop, so, like Town & Country, come prepared for a long day of exquisite shopping.
