Luxé City Guide: Las Vegas

Las Vegas Travel Guide: No matter where you live, chances are you have heard a thing or two about Las Vegas. Often referred to as "Sin City," Las Vegas takes entertainment to a whole new level and offers more to see and do than one could possibly fit in their day.

Luxury Hotels in Las Vegas

While some believe that any room will suffice, we know that you expect only the best, so we've searched high and low for the most luxurious suites in the city.

The Fantasy Towers, a $600 million extension of the Palms Casino Resort, offer their astute guests the option of staying in themed suites. Real World fans, sports junkies and players alike can indulge in their fantasies at one of the tower's suites designed for over-the-top, Las Vegas debauchery.

For travelers looking for a more tranquil environment, the Skylofts- a separate boutique hotel- located on the top two floors at the MGM Grand provide a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of Sin City. Like the Skylofts, the Wynn's Fairway Villas offer 24-hour butler service, but also offer the added luxury of the only on-strip golf course. Whether you want to play 18 holes at the Tom Fazio-designed Wynn Golf Course or cruise the strip in one of Steve Wynn's custom Bentleys, the Fairway Villas cater to even the most discerning tastes.

Not to be forgotten, The Bellagio, welcomes its affluent crowd by offering lavish accommodations and top-notch service. Coming in at 4,000-square-feet, the Chairman and Presidential Suites, located in the Spa Tower, can be accessed by crossing a walkway that floats above a reflecting pool.

While the Venetian may not have a Presidential Suite, the elegance of its Chairman Suite makes up for the loss tenfold. If you're fortunate enough to be invited or approved to stay at one of the Venetian's Chairman Suites (and can shell out $15,000) you're in for an experience of regal proportions. The Venetian, known for its opulence, went above and beyond when designing their Chairman Suites.

Best Restaurants in Las Vegas

The menu in Las Vegas is as diverse as the city itself and with an array of celebrated chefs in the kitchen, it's no wonder these restaurants are booked nightly. Tempt your taste buds with some good ol' fashion American cuisine at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill or spice it up with some Cajun/Creole at Emeril's. Make it a formal affair and enjoy 16 courses of French gourmet at Joël Rubuchon's Mansion or nibble on California cuisine at Wolfgang Puck's Spago.

Inside the rock 'n' roll haven that is the Hard Rock Hotel, slip back in time at AJ's Steakhouse. This is a local favorite place to meet, combining elegance and old-Vegas style with a traditional steakhouse menu. AJ's is laid back, the staff is friendly and the food is quite a find off-Strip. There are many oriental restaurants in Las Vegas, but a recent high-end find is Fin at The Mirage. The chef ensures the freshest fish, not unusual in this foodie city, but the way that each dish is prepared is sensational. If you're looking for an intimate, upscale dining experience, the Restaurant RM at Mandalay Bay offers a formal upstairs dining room reminiscent of a yacht club with rich wood and glass accents where you can be served elaborate entrees by an educated staff.

To Do in Las Vegas

As the world's most traveled hub for adult entertainment, Las Vegas offers something for everyone. With wild pool parties, spas and cabanas, jaw-dropping entertainment, championship golf, and a flourishing nightlife, Las Vegas is no doubt the world's largest adult playground.

Whether it's a night of disco balls and glitter at Studio 54, or it's the eclectic Asian flair of TAO that you're after, Las Vegas' nightlife scene is top-notch. Some of Sin City's hottest nightspots include Tryst, Pure, Rain, Light, The Playboy Club, Moon, Body English, and after-hours hotspot Drai's.

Famous for its championship greens, Nevada features five-star golf resorts such as Bali Hai, Badlands, Shadow Creek, The Legacy, The Falls, Reflection Bay, and the Tuscany Golf Club. Whether it's a Tom Fazio-designed golf course at the Wynn or if it's 35 miles south at Primm Valley, a day at the fairways is a nice alternative to spending a day at the tables.

Slow down and indulge in a day of pampering at some of the city's best spas. Book a treatment at Caesars' Qua Baths & Spas or the Westin's Hibiscus and unwind in the city that never sleeps. Cool off from the warm Vegas sun in the privacy of your own VIP cabana. Show a little skin at Rehab or bare it all at some of the city's newest European-style pools such as Moorea Beach Club, Bare, and the European Sunset Pool.

With countless activities at your disposal, one thing is certain: there's never a dull moment in Las Vegas.

Getting There: McCarran airport is located one mile (2km) south of the Las Vegas Strip. There are regular buses going to and from the airport, downtown Las Vegas and The Strip, dropping off at most hotels; buses 108 and 109 connect to the Downtown Transportation Center and the South Strip Transfer Terminal. There are also taxis available outside Arrivals, but the short ride is expensive.

Why? Bright, brash and lavish, there is no more reason to holiday in Las Vegas than for the pursuit of pleasure and entertainment, because that is why this city in the Nevada desert exists. Travel to Las Vegas to discover a city of fun and fantasy, filled with mega-resort casinos. The city has been dubbed the entertainment capital of the world, and its 'wow factor' continues to grow along with its building budgets.

When? Anytime is a great time to holiday in Las Vegas, which is sited in a desert and therefore bathes in sunshine all year round. Summers can be blindingly hot, but never fear, everything indoors is air-conditioned.

Who for? No longer is a holiday in Las Vegas just for gamblers. The casinos flourish, of course, but the city is now a well-rounded destination which offers everything from wildlife viewing to theme park thrills, and world class shows to intimate night clubs. This is truly a destination for everyone and anyone who is just out to have fun.
