Buenos Aires Fights for Bicyclists

With the adamant support of Buenos Aires Mayor Mauricio Macri at their back, proponents of of the green-friendly bicyclist movement will be happy to hear of his latest milestone: 100 kilometers of dedicated biking paths by completion, and 30 kilometers by years end. At the same time, Banco Ciudad is increasing the availability of bikes, a double move that will make Argentina dramatically more bike friendly.

Mayor Mauricio Macri has reached a milestone in his campaign to make Buenos Aires a bike-friendly capital: 100 kilometres (about 62 miles) of dedicated bike lanes and paths.

Macri dutifully wore a helmet and made sure that most of his Cabinet did so as well as they announced the achievement Wednesday during a short ride in the upscale Palermo neighbourhood.
