Riviera 31 Lounge - Bar Opens at Hotel Sofitel: Bringing French Riviera Cool to the Nightclub Space

Hotel Sofitel - Permission granted for usage

Riviera 31 Lounge |Bar is Los Angeles’ newest destination for urban sophistication and European ambiance.  The lounge is just off the hotel lobby but takes the guest miles away for a brief jaunt to the French Riviera.

When I arrived, the DJ was spinning some great music, though I would have liked more vintage 50s tunes or mixes inspired by the 1950s Riviera vibe.  The fun moments musically were when the dancers sashayed down the runway in their burlesque finery, to dance.  A suprising moment was when the "Ballet Burlesque" girl entered on ballet point with an enticing little bit of burlesque;  the combination between classical movements and something a bit more was 'old school' sexy.  The crowd was definitely pleased.

The SOFITEL, a French owned company has high standards of service and training so the club itself is manned by a team of people who are friendly and courteous. I tried a signature cocktail, inspired by the Riviera, flavored with Blood Orange with a dash of champagne,  very delicious. Then, I switched to the classic: the Champagne Cocktail. I was feeling a bit like Jane Fonda, Liz or Grace Kelley all of whom grace the walls in gorgeous black and white photos to inspire you. The light bites are just the right size and price.  I had a little plate of French olives with my champagne, then, went straight to the dessert. It was something called the "Starlet" to continue the theme, a delicous rich creamy treat a sort of French version of New York Cheescake.  I almost forgot to take a picture of it, I wanted to eat it as soon as it arrived, so you'll notice a large bite out of it in the photo (sorry, I just couldn't resist it).

When you head over to this venue be prepared to relax, outside in the patio or inside at the lounge on well appointed sofas or gaze up at the gorgeous chandelier, made of Venetian Glass.  A touch of luxe in this casually chic space, which I can't wait to return. The crowd is decidedly international and tres chic, but that is as it should be.

Here's the 411:

Cocktail Chef Marius Biancaniello, prepares cocktails with garden ingredients from the hotel garden. Marius Blin, is the chef who prepares the food and delights at the bar and restaurant.
