More Changes at Condé Nast: Style.com is Moving Under the Vogue Umbrella

Maybe curiosity killed the cat, but we’re will to risk it since we can’t help but wonder what the executives over at Condé Nast have been up to as of late. They’ve been playing musical chairs with their publications beginning back in August when they decided to dump Lucky magazine. Soon afterwards they sold Fairchild Fashion Media to Penske Media Corporation letting WWD go but keeping Style.com and Now Manifest. During that time Matt Rice was promoted to the Style.com publisher position and there they sat—leaving us without a clue as to what was to become of them.

But it seems a redesign is in the works, as Style.com will now fall under the umbrella of Vogue magazine. The site was originally created to be an online home to Vogue and W, but after Anna Wintour fought for her own domain, the site became its own entity both online and in print. So really this is more like a homecoming 14 years in the making. Rice will now be reporting to Vogue publisher Susan Plagemann and Editor-in Chief Dirk Standen will report to Wintour, and they’ve already been seen taking meetings together so things are moving quickly.

So far we’re still not entirely clear as to what’s going on in the Condé Nast offices and there’s no news on why Style.com is being reconstructed or what all the movement will mean, but we’re hoping it translates into more fashion for us. Besides Wintour has never steered us wrong before, we doubt she would start now.
