In a move that broke away from last season’s washed out color palette and minimalistic looks, Rag & Bone’s David Neville and Marcus Wainwright opted for a ‘90s influence for Fall 2015. While most designers are showing collections that heavily tap the ‘70s for inspiration, the two designers took a look at their own history for sartorial influences. Monday’s show was filled with puffer jackets, slip dresses, bright colors and enough tomboy references to make any ‘90s girl have a seriously moment of nostalgia.

"It's funny how everything that looked kind of cheesy comes back around and seems awesome," Wainwright explained to Style.com backstage, making reference to the ‘90s hip-hop aesthetic that influenced the collection. And while everything has a chicer silhouette and modern spin, we have to agree, there are some serious 1997 MTV-worthy moments here. There are even fanny packs. It’s totally ‘da bomb.

But thankfully it never strays into costume territory. Rather than a cut-and-paste mockery of the era, it is instead merely influenced by it—glimpses of color, silhouette and popular trends offer a look at the past though shiny, 2015 lenses. It’s very wearable, and very Rag & Bone. Bright pops of color sit on muted black, grey and brown and even the ‘90s slips sit over tailored pants or are paired with slim-cut suits.

While the pretty slip dresses and cool-girl crop pants were definitely eye-catching (and aided in defining this season’s muse), it was the outwear that sold the collection. Puffy jackets, satin peacoats, slim-cut blazers, leather jackets and camel hair coats, some collared in fur, leather and nylon, came down the runway on almost every model. Several pieces had zip down hoods and a few were sleeveless, for those who choose style over function—which is really the ideal Rag & Bone girl.
