Cartier Holiday Campaign Star Karen Elson Proves Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend

Cartier just released their holiday campaign and it’s a sparking vision of glitz and glamour. Starring British singer and songwriter Karen Elson, the film is inspired by the 1953 movie Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Playing the part of Marilyn Monroe, Elson runs around the Place Vendôme, the Grand Palais and the streets of Paris, dripping in diamonds. Followed by handsome suitors who continuously adorn her with rings, necklaces, bangles and crowns, she eventually breaks away and takes to the roofs of the city, stepping onto a glittering, sky-high Ferris wheel that overlooks the lights of the city.

The short, directed by Johan Renck, features Elson singing a modern rendition of Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend, perfect for a clip that features some of Cartier’s most exceptional jewelry. To see some of these pieces in person, Cartier will be staging an exhibition from November 25 to 26 at Phillips auction-house gallery in Berkeley Square in London. The showcase, Entitled Le Diamant, is by appointment only, and will feature over 150 rare and one-of-a-kind high jewelry pieces including the film's featured 1911 Oriental tiara.
