Celebrate Earth Day With a Bottle From Quivira Vineyards

Photo Courtesy of Quivira Vineyard and Winery
Earth Day is just over a month away, and there's not a more luxurious way to celebrate Mother Earth than with a bottle of wine from Quivira Vineyards; they are committed to making good wine that is also good for the planet.

Quivira was one of the first biodynamic/organic estate in Sonoma's Dry Creek Valley and one of the first fully solar-powered winery and pioneers in the restoration of the steelhead and salmon habitat along Wine Creek.

Biodynamic indicates an agricultural philosophy that treats the vineyard and/or farm as a self-sustaining system, so that there are no unnatural additions. By maintaining a biodynamic environment, production is limited; but the quality is higher, by paying exact attention to the forces of nature and working within their confines. The entire Quivira property is biodynamic, from the vineyard to the new organic garden and the growing farm with farm animals.

I was privileged to enjoy the Quivira 2008 Wine Creek Ranch Estate Vineyard Mourvedre and the 2008 Wine Creek Ranch Estate Vineyard Elusive, which would make excellent accompaniments to an organic, sustainably sourced meal on Earth Day.
