The New After-Hours in Hong Kong: Inside The Green Room’s Moonlight Scene

Once a whispered secret among Hong Kong’s in-the-know set, The Green Room at The Upper House now takes center stage with the debut of Moonlight — a sultry new after-hours ritual blending sonic innovation with seasonal mixology.

Inspired by backstage lounges where artists retreat post-performance, The Green Room trades theatrics for intention. Bar Manager Gail Lanorias’ new cocktail menu follows a “complex but not complicated” philosophy, inviting quiet discovery over spectacle. Standouts include Golden Child, a botanical blend of Nordes Gin, house-made rosemary syrup, and lemon verbena; Southern Belle, a grown-up spin on iced tea with Calvados, honey, and green apple; and the whimsical Star Crossed Lovers, an ode to local dessert culture featuring vodka, red bean, and matcha soy foam.

Whether you're starting the night or closing it with a wink, The Green Room’s allure lies in its ability to feel both exclusive and effortless. The lacquered green walls and Pevla stone surfaces evoke a Wes Anderson dreamscape, setting the stage for evenings that blur seamlessly from aperitivo to afterparty. Every Thursday, Moonlight pulses to life with DJ sets, regionally acclaimed guest mixologists, and drag performances that playfully defy expectation. Upcoming collaborations include Bar US (Asia’s 50 Best Bars - #21) on July 11, and Hope & Sesame (Asia’s 50 Best Bars - #14) on July 18.
