How Tibor Nagy of Dontzin Nagy LLP Became a Leading Trial Lawyer For Cryptocurrency Cases

Becoming a lawyer is no easy feat — it takes lots of grit, determination and a strong personal will to succeed while helping others. While there are an estimated 1.3 million lawyers currently practicing in the United States, according to Clio, there are only a handful of lawyers that are truly well-versed in newer concepts, such as digital phenomena like NFTs and cryptocurrency. One of these talented trial lawyers that is also successfully navigating cases for these new technologies is Tibor Nagy.

Nagy is a founding partner at boutique law firm Dontzin Nagy LLP, and he has become well-known and well-respected as a trial lawyer who shows up to the courtroom to win high-stakes, challenging litigations. Nagy represents both defendants and plaintiffs, and he has worked with a large array of clients — from Fortune 500 companies to hedge funds, small businesses or even other lawyers, Nagy has experienced it all.

While for some lawyers, their primary purpose is to maximize “billable hours,” Nagy instead focuses on innovating within his industry and winning cases for his clients, so he is paid for his wins rather than simply by hours worked. Thanks to his demonstrated success and more logical compensation structure, Nagy has several high-profile wins under his belt for major clients such as ConsenSys, J.P. Morgan, and William Penn Life Insurance Company.

Nagy is especially optimistic about the future of Web3 concepts, firmly believing there are lots of industry-shaping cases to come regarding things like cryptocurrency. Matt Corva, General Counsel at blockchain software technology company ConsenSys, gave a glowing statement regarding Nagy.  “With litigation on the rise in our industry, we are lucky to have Tibor Nagy as trusted counsel and friend of ConsenSys. If you think of the best solidity developer - that's how we view Tibor to his field,” said Corva. “In the face of rising litigation against companies in our industry, I'd strongly recommend Tibor.”

Most recently, Nagy filed a class action suit against Binance, and is pursuing mass arbitrations against other exchanges like Coinbase.  Nagy is seeking to help purchasers of UST and LUNA recover their losses, which he believes were caused by unlawful conduct by the exchanges. Adding to his achievements, he was recently named to Benchmark Litigation’s “Under 40 Hot List” and was named an “Elite Boutique Trailblazer” by the National Law Journal.
