Griffith Park Observatory

The Griffith Park Observatory is one of Los Angeles' most iconic spots and was even featured in the famous 1955 James Dean film Rebel Without a Cause. Perched up on Mount Hollywood, the observatory gives amazing views of the city skyline, which is why many people make the drive just to snap some drool-worthy photographs. Though if you are going to take the time to visit, you really should take a peek inside.

A planetarium can be found in the main dome, where narrated projection programs shine a spotlight on our solar system, the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and what causes earthquakes and moon-quakes. The Hall of Science is full of exhibits on everything from galaxies to cosmic anomalies; this is also where the giant telescope rests, as well as a Foucault pendulum.
