A fashionable and glamorous mother of the bride dress will make

Frox of Falkirk

So, your daughter is getting married?  Congratulations!  No doubt this news is bittersweet.  As a mother, you dream of your daughter’s wedding day and dread it at the same time.  It means she’s all grown up.  When you’ve gotten your emotions under control and the wedding plans are under way, you’ll realize you’re now the mother of the bride (MOB)!  You’ll need to find the perfect outfit, not just for the wedding, but for all the pre-wedding events, such as the engagement dinner, wedding shower and rehearsal dinner.   Here are some tips for finding a glamorous mother of the bride outfit, no matter the occasion.

No doubt, when you hear the words “mother of the bride dress” you think of some shapeless, drab, pastel number.  Well, worry no more!  Mother of the bride outfits have improved dramatically in recent years.  Designers have taken note of the fact that MOB’s are younger than ever.  Designs reflect today’s current styles and trends.  Just because you’re the MOB, it doesn’t mean you have to give up your sense of fashion or style.  Above-the-knee styles are very popular right now, along with halter, spaghetti strap, one-shoulder, and even strapless dresses.  If you choose to go this route, be sure to buy a cover-up, especially if the ceremony will be held in a church or synagogue.  There are many beautiful shawls, pashminas, shrugs, wraps and jackets available to match any mother of the bride outfit.

However, do remember that it is the bride’s day to shine. Don’t buy a dress for any wedding event that is too flashy or revealing. All eyes should be on her, not on you. MOB’s should always present themselves with grace and elegance. Have a chat with your daughter and ask her what she sees you wearing for the big day. Some brides have very strong opinions about what mom should wear and some brides are more ambivalent. Of course, any outfit you choose will depend on the type and style of the wedding itself. You wouldn’t want to wear a short cocktail dress to a formal reception, so be sure to have all the details of the event before setting out to shop.

Finally, don’t forget your hair and accessories. There are many different websites where you can upload your photo and try out different hairstyles. When you’ve found a few you like, make an appointment with your hairstylist and try them out. Updo’s are always classic and elegant, and eliminate a lot of the worry associated with a hairstyle falling, especially during hot and humid weather. Adding a beautiful hair accessory, such as a beaded pin or clip, can give you a perfectly finished look.

No matter what event you’re attending for the wedding – the shower, the rehearsal dinner or the wedding itself, by following these simple tips, you are sure to look and feel glamorous. Most importantly, remember to take the time to enjoy this special time with your daughter and her husband to be.
