London's Draycott Hotel Celebrates 2013 Wimbledon Championships with Champagne & Strawberries

Draycott Hotel

In celebration of the upcoming 2013 Wimbledon Championships, the Draycott Hotel will be offering complimentary champagne & strawberries to guests. A customary treat long enjoyed by Wimbledon spectators, the champagne & strawberries will be served in the hotel lounge or enjoyed outside in the garden from June 24 through July 7, 2013 in honor of the oldest and most prestigious tournament in international tennis.

The last of the four Grand Slam tournaments to still be held on grass, the game’s original surface, Wimbledon has been held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon, London, since 1877. This year’s championship takes place from June 24 to July 7, culminating with the Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Singles Final.

“Champagne and strawberries is a cherished tradition of the Wimbledon Championships,” says Melissa Stoman, General Manager of the Draycott Hotel. “We are happy to be offering the complimentary treat to our guests to honor one of England’s most beloved sporting events.”

Along with the Draycott’s signature nightly champagne service, guests will be able to enjoy fresh strawberries and cream. Picnic blankets will be provided, so guests may enjoy their treats in the hotel’s beautiful garden.

During the tournament, special room rates starting at $340 + VAT will be available.

For those who can’t quite wait until Wimbledon, the Draycott is offering a “Springtime in London” promotion. Guests will stay in a beautifully appointed bedroom or suite for two nights at the privately-owned, 5-star town house. The promotion includes a river cruise down the Thames to take in the many sights and landmarks of London, starting at Westminster Pier and the Houses of Parliament, and including the Tate Gallery, the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and the starting line of the famous Oxford Cambridge boat race before arriving in Kew. Guests will enjoy a picnic for two, and explore Kew village and the Royal Botanical Gardens before returning via boat or car service. Full English breakfasts are also included, with two night stays starting at $965, including VAT.

The Draycott Hotel offers exceptional and highly personalized service and is perfectly located for guests to experience London’s best attractions, sport-centric or otherwise. Personal touches are important to the hotel, such as the daily offering of complimentary tea and homemade biscuits at 4pm, champagne at 6pm and hot chocolate at 9:30pm for guests of the property
