We must agree that most of us have an insatiable sweet teeth.  However, we avoid things such as sweets and chocolate, as our society tells us that these products are very unhealthy.  After eating such sweets, foods or products, we are left feeling guilty.  Fortunately, I have some information that says you will not have to quit eating chocolate entirely: dark chocolate has powers to fight skin aging and wrinkling.  Read on to learn more!

Why Dark Chocolate?

Dark chocolate is richly packed with antioxidants.  These antioxidants are crucial in fighting skin wrinkling and aging.  They are essential in fighting and eradicating the free radicals that are highly responsible for wrinkle formation on the skin.  The more you eat antioxidant-rich foods, the better your cells are protected against wear and tear.

What Does Research Indicate?

Scientists have concluded that chocolate is vital in maintaining skin youthfulness, as it can help fight and prevent wrinkling.  It can give the skin a shield against harmful sun damage.  The secret is the presence of the antioxidants.  Experts conducting the study also outlined the role of antioxidants in preventing skin cancer and other skin conditions and disorders.  The cocoa in the product is rich in antioxidants and gives the chocolate the power to fight skin aging.  However, while this is true, check your ingredients: some stores pack chocolate with low cocoa levels. It is thus crucial to check the percentage of cocoa in the product. Notably, the higher the cocoa amount of the chocolate, the better the product.

Chocolate and Wrinkle Reduction

UV rays are a major cause of skin damage including wrinkles and fine lines. However, research shows that individuals who use a square of dark chocolate daily have skin that is likely to tolerate these harmful rays better than those who do not eat chocolate. Eating chocolate thus keeps off the damage, giving the skin a youthful and a natural glow.

How to Properly Add Chocolate to Anti-Aging Diet

Although the product has essential antioxidants, you need to be moderate.  The product, unfortunately, has calories and fats in high amounts.  This implies that if too much chocolate is eaten each day, then it may finally lead to unwanted and unhealthy weight gain.  Use a square each day and stick to the habit. Do not fall to the temptation of having several squares.  Besides, it is crucial to check the amounts of cocoa in the product.  Select chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage as it has more antioxidants.
