Anne Hathaway's Insane Diet for Les Miserable

Anne Hathaway was already really thin but apparently it wasn't enough for her role in the upcoming "Les Miserables," which she went on a super-strict diet to look as close to Fantine as possible. While her PR people deny the claim, rumors report that her diet consisted of less than 500 calories per day. 

 

Anne Hathaway's diet for her role as Fantine in the movie version of "Les Misérables" was nothing short of extreme. The already slim actress consumed starvation rations to lose 25 pounds for the film. The character of Fantine is a prostitute who is at death's door from the disease tuberculosis, and the actress wanted to portray her accurately (minus the deadly disease). According to Anne Hathaway, the diet was all-consuming, and she acknowledges the craziness of her weight loss methods:
