I'm planning on visiting soon and I've experience the downtown club offerings already. Are there any lower key type places that are good?

Tivoli Bar is the oldest bar in Gaslamp and the epitome of a dive bar. You might not want to spend all your time there, but one drink in a historical establishment never hurt anyone.

The Casbah wins hands down. It's extremely popular, and well-priced despite the burgeoning fan base. You'll find it nestled in at Kettner Blvd. Point Loma, something a little closer to the shore, offers up Catalina Lounge - another nice one for rock bottom prices. There's always Gilly's Bar on El Cajon Blvd; it's not a personal favorite, but you can't go far without hearing all about it here. As for me, I usually hit up The Manhattan in downtown Chula Vista or Alibi in Hillcrest.

Last time I visited friends there they took me to this place called Livewire which was a lot of fun. Super awesome jukebox and the door guy was really nice! They even have that Big Buck Hunter game.
