Blue on Highland's Suburban Refresh

Blue on Highland

Suburban dining got better when Blue on Highland opened in Needham Highlands and it is now even better after a recent refresh. The entire restaurant has been renovated to now include a modern space, relocated bar and revitalized menu.

While there are no outdoor seats, the massive main front windows open during the warmer months for diners to enjoy the benefits of al fresco dining. We recently visited and got started with a white peach margarita and stiff vodka martini.

For appetizers, we shared a sampling of fresh tuna tartare made with ginger vinaigrette and wasabi cream served with a side of seaweed salad. The winning starter was the Sriracha shrimp---eight jumbo shrimp arrived in a deliciously fiery Sriracha butter sauce.

If you are looking to share a pizza, we recommend the spinach and goat cheese topped with artichokes and roasted tomatoes. Other creative pies include bacon and ricotta; and fig and arugula.

The half roasted chicken was somewhat dry served with a side of red skin mashed potatoes and fresh haricot verte. Instead, we recommend the super juicy 24-ounce massive king cut prime rib with mashed potatoes.

Although we didn’t save room for dessert, selections include chocolate lava cake, Bailey’s Irish cream cheesecake, a brownie sundae and mini cannoli.

Blue on Highland is located at 882 Highland Avenue in Needham, Mass. Tel: (781) 444-7001.
