The rich and famous may have more cash than kings and more power than presidents, but that does not mean that they have other important assets, like common sense and skill behind the wheel.
The combination of cars and stars can be a particularly potent one, so here is a look at how celebs have trashed their expensive vehicles over the years.
George Michael's shop collision
Pop legend George Michael has been involved in a number of incidents on the road in recent years, none of which have been especially serious. In fact he has become better known for his auto infractions than for his singing in some circles.
The most harmlessly hilarious of the lot involved an alleged collision between his Range Rover and an outlet of photography chain Snappy Snaps in London back in 2011.
Reports suggested that Michael had been smoking marijuana just before the crash. And with his no doubt healthy bank balance he is not the kind of person who will need to use a finance calculator to work out if he can afford to replace his car, even if his insurance premiums must have gone through the roof.
Selena Gomez and the paparazzi run-in
This month former Disney star and budding film idol Selena Gomez became the latest celebrity to wind up in a minor car accident after being harassed by press photographers.
She had just popped out to pick up some groceries from an outlet near her Hollywood home when the impact occurred. And Gomez is claiming that packs of paparazzi got her all flustered and distracted her enough to reverse her high end SUV into a parked car.
The damage was not especially severe and no one was injured, but maybe Gomez will want to visit a site like The CarPeople to check whether she can afford to replace it outright.
Ozzy Osbourne and the Ferrari fiasco
Ozzy Osbourne has literally been studied by scientists to work out just how he has managed to survive so many years of the rock and roll lifestyle without popping his clogs. And it seems like even being involved in an auto accident is not enough to knock him for six.
Back in 2011 he was hit while driving his Ferrari through Los Angeles. And because this is a celebrity-packed city, there were plenty of people on hand to both check to see if he and the other driver were OK while snapping pictures of them in the process.
This again was a relatively minor incident, although Ferraris are neither cheap to buy nor repair, which means either Ozzy or the insurance company had to foot a pretty big bill. Which is why people looking for car finance in Manchester will be better off if they select a vehicle they can afford.
Celebrities may live the high life but they can be brought face to face with their own mortality just like the rest of us. And these car incidents were no doubt enough to give them food for thought.
