Crash Course Driving Lessons - An Alternative Method of Learning

There are several reasons why a person might wish to take a crash course in driving lessons rather than “standard” ones. Not all are tied in with the need to achieve a pass on the test within a certain period of time.

The crash course is a fundamentally different method of learning than the standard or accepted common method for taking driving lessons. The course aims to teach every practical skill required of the driver in a logical order, and does not move on to a new skill until the driver under instruction has probably mastered the old one.

Conducted over a concentrated period of time, this crash course approach allows even novice drivers to gain a facility with the practical side of car handling that is rarely matched by drivers doing “normal” driving lessons. This is why the crash course driving lessons model is often used by police-sponsored or council-run driving courses that are designed to correct faults with dangerous drivers, and is also why the crash course model achieves a much higher first-time pass rate.

It must be noted, of course, that crash course driving lessons only achieve a first time pass rate for drivers who have not already taken a test. In other words, the model may sometimes be used as an alternative method when drivers, who are failing repeatedly through tests taken after standard lessons, need to change something.

The reasons for the high pass rate amongst people who take crash course driving lessons, and the reasons why those people end up qualified with greater breadth of knowledge and confidence in vehicle control, are one and the same. The crash course teaches drivers to control vehicles to a standard much higher than that required of a test pass. Nominally speaking, drivers who have successfully grasped everything that has been taught to them in a crash course situation possess many of the skills learned by police drivers. In other words, crash course learning methods promote enough advanced knowledge, that passing the basics (the practical test) becomes relatively simple.

The method of learning employed by the crash course may not be suited to everyone. Some people thrive on changing between skills during a learning period; say switching to a different task after trying to perform one you have not yet mastered, can reboot your confidence levels.

Others, though, may find part-learning each skill in rotation to be slightly wearing and may even find their uptake overall is blunted by switching between skills. For people of this persuasion, crash course driving lessons seem to offer an alternative that is more suited to their natural abilities or temperaments.

Another reason the crash course driver normally passes first time is that his or her instructor will not allow him or her to book and enter a test until he or she is deemed to be trained to the higher standard noted already. It is not enough to have the ability to train drivers to standard surpassing normal test pass requirements. In order for crash course for driving lessons to work, the pupil must be guaranteed to have been trained like this.
