Create the perfect beauty space with French furniture

Every woman covets a little place she can call her own, the perfect beauty space where her comfort and pleasure are the only things that matter.

For many of us, space is at a premium, but with a little planning and use of clever ideas and great furniture, you can create a spot within your home that is yours alone. If you’re lucky enough to have a spare room or box room to annexe as your domain, grab it quick!

Even if you’re confined to claiming one wall of the bedroom as your beauty space, you can still make the very most of the place where you will want to spend quality time getting ready for a big night out, or even simply relaxing while you remove your make-up and go through your nightly beauty routine.

A great way to stamp your personality on the room is in your choice of furniture and selecting vintage style French furniture is a wonderfully individual option.

As in fashion and food, the French are effortlessly stylish in their furniture design too. From Louis XV to Provençal and rococo style, France has often led the way in creative design, with its boudoir style still influential today .So whether you’ve got a whole room to play with, or simply a corner of a bedroom or dressing room, go for a dressing table with genuine character.

Genuine antiques and vintage pieces have natural wood or painted finishes in mahogany, oak, walnut and cherry wood. But cheaper alternatives for French furniture can be found in vintage style reproductions and you can paint them to match your bedroom décor.

Many dressing tables have an ornate style, such as intricate carvings, and come with a matching stool. Look for ones that have their own mirror, or try to find a mirror that complements the table you’ve chosen.

Even if you can’t find a matching table, stool and mirror, you can find disparate pieces that work well together or are sufficiently different to add a quirk of individuality to the space.

Make sure your dressing table has enough drawers to store all your beauty needs, as well as having lots of table-top space too – you want to be able to reach brushes, make-up and perfume easily, while also keeping the area neat and tidy.

Selecting French furniture, whether reproduction or antique, is an excellent way of creating a genuine boudoir style in your bedroom or beauty space that is yours, and yours alone.
