Designer Phillip Lim Releases Comic Book

Designer Phillip Lim, along with writer John Ostrander and Star Wars artist Jan Duursema, recently wrote and illustrated comic book Kill the Night, to launch September 6 on Fashion's Night Out.

3.1 Phillip Lim shoppers both in store and online will receive a signed copy accompanying purchases, and the label will reportedly be updating all its fans via social media, posting "exclusive behind the scenes content" on Facebook and Twitter. The posts are rumored to reveal clues and ultimately the true inspiration for the characters in the comic to the fashion and comic con world.

And the plot? As described in a press release: “The Fall 2012 collection is inspired by the spirit of comic books such as Sin City and V for Vendetta and the neo-noir heroines who embody it. The comic book became the natural medium to tell this story. A story of duality and metamorphosis, day and night, black and white, love and betrayal. Things are not what they seem. Look again.”

The announcement of a comic book has editors and the fashion industry intrigued; we are all wondering how the launch will help the label and curious as to what other creative collaborations we will see with Lim or other designers in the future.
