Los Angeles Questions: Do you think LA is really all it is cracked up to be?

I am very familiar with LA, and I have my own opinions... I am just curious SoCal natives.... for someone planning a trip to the area, better for them to only visit LA and do it all or do you think it is wise to break up the trip along the coast?

(PS you are settling an argument between a friend and myself, so be honest we want to hear BOTH sides!)
