Just Eternity

There are not too many pieces of jewellery you can truly say have survived the test of time. With each new season bringing with it the newest selection of clothes and accessories we as consumers have become used to purchasing a necklace or top knowing that in 6 to 8 months time it could well be ‘outdated’. However to say that eternity rings have survived the test of time would be a slight understatement. Originating in ancient Egypt, eternity rings have symbolised eternal love every since.

4000 years is quite a lifespan for any piece of jewellery and the fact they are still popular today has a lot to the do with not only the tradition and significance attached to them but the ever evolving styles available.

Original eternity rings would be shaped to depict a snake swallowing its own tail as a literal symbol of the endless notion of eternal love, today as I’m sure many woman will be happy about eternity rings take on a much different look altogether. As would be expect styles have changed considerably in such a long history with diamond rings now dominating the eternity ring market.

Diamond eternity rings are in fact quite a relatively new concept. Only launched in 1960s and quickly becoming popular due to a marketing campaign aimed at husbands which ran with the slogan “She married you for richer or poorer. Let her know how it’s going.” confirming the fact that diamonds very much are a girl’s best friend.

As well as diamonds, alternative gemstones such as emeralds, sapphires and rubies are also popular and the choice of which eternity you choose for a loved one really depends on their personal style and taste and with such a diverse selection now available you really have no excuse not to make the right choice!
