European Fashion Has Left The Realm of Sanity

I don't know what I'm looking at here, but I'll tell you it's not the only one like it I had to endure. Perhaps I'm just an uncultured American, but if gems like this white and blue carpet dubbed couture complete with hip-hugging short shorts that could make Miley Cyrus proud are any indication of fashion's future – and lets not be coy here, this is a featured Louis Vuitton ensemble – I fear for the fate of men's fashion worldwide.

 

If there was any doubt that American tastes and traditions have been on designers’ minds, it was finally put to rest with the red, white and blue checked sports jackets and Western bandannas that Kim Jones showed on the Louis Vuitton runway. Oh … and there was a wood-frame outline of a Shaker building in the background.

 

So far this season we’ve seen 1920s swells, ’50s hep cats, rubes of every description — and possibly a Boy Scout. Miuccia Prada’s tropical prints and ’40s pinstripes had an aspect of prewar Hawaii. (Read More)
