Extravagant Additions to Luxury Cars

When it comes to luxury cars, enthusiasts often spend a large amount of time considering the driveability and performance. These are no doubt the most important aspects of any car, but when it comes to interiors, luxury cars have some unusual and extravagant customisation options to say the least, so we’ve hunted down a few of the best.

Starry overhead lighting

Car: Rolls Royce Phantom Sedan/Coupé

Luxurious, unnecessary and potentially very tacky, Rolls Royce gives their clientele the option to have 1,600 tiny fibre optic lights installed into the roof above their head to mimic the night sky. This extravagant optional addition costs $12,000, but if you’re buying a Rolls Royce in the first place, that would probably feel like mere pocket money.

Backseat champagne cooler

Car: Hyundai Equus

Hyundai is not by any means a key player in the luxury car market, which is why, in context, this optional addition to the Equus seems so extravagant. The model is Hyundai’s first venture into the market, and buyers can opt to have a champagne cooler fitted between the two rear seats. The cooler is more like a small refrigerator, and admittedly doesn’t have to be used for cooling champagne, but it’s certainly an extravagant addition.

Teflon lined door umbrellas

Car: Rolls Royce Ghost

As a brand, Rolls Royce is synonymous with luxury, which is why it’s no surprise that the Ghost comes with Teflon lined door umbrellas… as standard. To ensure Rolls Royce’s clientele stay perfectly dry even when they’ve forgotten to bring along an umbrella, the Ghost features pop-out umbrellas housed in each of its front doors. Their storage compartment even drains out to the ground underneath the car – they really have thought of everything.

Leather lined iPod drawer

Car: Bentley Mulsanne

It’s hard to beat Bentley when it comes to outrageous luxuriousness. Naturally, that’s why anybody who could afford to buy one would expect to be given the option of housing their iPod in a large, soft, leather lined drawer on the dashboard. Forget cables and plastic holders, if you’re a Bentley owner then your iPod will travel in just as much style as you do, so you can rest assured that it’s protected from scratches and wear and tear.

If all that extravagance is a mere pipe dream, a clever bit of DIY on the interiors and some ECU Flash Remapping can transform your dull-as-dishwater budget car into something special.
